New Concrete Driveway Installation
We pour new concrete driveways for homes across the northwest Chicago suburbs — single-car drives, wide multi-car layouts, driveway extensions, and RV or boat pads. Every installation follows the same process:
- Layout and excavation. We mark the layout, then excavate to the depth the design requires — removing topsoil and soft material that would settle later.
- Compacted aggregate base. A crushed-stone base goes in and gets compacted in lifts. This is the foundation everything else depends on: it spreads vehicle loads, drains water away from the slab, and resists the seasonal movement that heaves poorly based driveways.
- Forms and reinforcement. Forms are set to grade; reinforcement goes in where the design calls for it.
- The pour. We place an air-entrained concrete mix rated for freeze-thaw exposure, screed it to grade, and finish the surface.
- Control joints and curing. Joints are cut at proper spacing so the slab cracks where we tell it to — not where the winter tells it to. Then the slab cures properly before it takes traffic.
Concrete Driveway Replacement
Replacing a failed driveway starts with tear-out and disposal of the old slab. Then we rebuild from the ground up — because most failed driveways failed at the base, not the surface. Skipping the base rebuild and pouring fresh concrete over the same failed foundation is how you end up replacing the same driveway twice. We don't do that.
A replacement is also your chance to fix what bothered you about the old driveway: widen it, reshape the apron, improve the drainage, or add a walkway connection while the equipment is already there.
