Stamped Patterns
Choose from patterns that mimic high-end materials:
- Ashlar slate. The look of cut natural stone — our most requested pattern for patios and driveways.
- Brick and cobblestone. Classic looks that suit front walks, borders, and traditional homes.
- Tile and flagstone. Clean geometric options for contemporary patios.
- Wood plank. The warmth of wood grain with the durability of concrete.
Patterns can be combined with borders, bands, and medallions to define edges and add detail. We'll bring samples to your estimate appointment and walk you through combinations against your home's exterior.
Color Options
- Integral color. Pigment mixed through the entire batch for rich, even color that won't wear off the surface.
- Color hardeners. Applied to the surface during finishing for intense color and added surface durability.
- Stains and antiquing. Added depth, variation, and highlight that make the pattern read like natural stone.

Stamped Concrete in Cold Climates: What to Know
The pattern is only the surface — underneath, it's a concrete slab that lives through Chicago-suburb winters. That means it needs everything a standard slab needs: proper excavation and base, correct thickness, control joints in the right places, and a real cure. The decorative surface also benefits from periodic sealing, which protects color and texture from freeze-thaw cycles and salt exposure. Sealing is simple maintenance, and we'll give you a schedule for it.
One honest note: stamped concrete shows wear like any decorative surface. In high-traffic areas the sealer wears and needs reapplication every few years. That's normal maintenance, not a defect — and we'll be upfront about it before you commit.
Why Not Just Use Pavers?
Pavers look great on day one. Then weeds grow between them, individual units settle and rock, edges shift, and you're re-leveling sections every few years. Stamped concrete delivers a comparable look in a single slab with far less upkeep — and usually at a lower installed cost for the same area.
Getting the Details Right
Stamped concrete rewards planning. Pattern scale should suit the area — a large ashlar pattern can overwhelm a narrow walk, while a small pattern gets lost on a big driveway. Color should complement your home in all four seasons, not just the day it's poured. And borders or bands, which cost relatively little, do a lot of visual work defining edges. We walk through all of this with samples in hand at your estimate, so what you approve is what gets poured.
